What does beacon represent

The beacon symbolizes one’s identity and self. It first appears when the Strange Bird is captured by the Magician. This beacon seems to replace the compass as the core of the Strange Bird. It also represents the Strange Bird’s life and willingness to live. As the Strange Bird feels like giving up, her inner core or beacon is very faded and dull.
