What are foxes

In the novel, foxes symbolize freedom. They appear during the Strange Bird’s imprisonment by the Old Man. They speak to the Strange Bird about their free lifestyle. They are the ones who give the Strange Bird her plan to escape. Later in the novel, the foxes make an appearance during the Strange Bird’s captivity by the Magician. They reinvigorate the Strange Bird in her time of need.
