Mallory's discovery of the secret door into the library, as well as her brothers' discovery of the door in the linen closet, allows the siblings to work as one. This is a metaphor to the effect that Mallory is now backing the twin boys to stop the pranks of the boggart. She believes that the faerie, the boggart is present in the house.
