Karma is the final octopus of the book, and Montgomery went with the team to the airport to pick her up from the Federal Express terminal. She is feisty and active, according to Bill, and tries to escape from her barrel by chewing on the mesh that attaches the lid. At this point, after some deliberation, they decide it is best to put Karma in the big tank even though Octavia must be separated from her eggs for it. She is as beloved as all the octopuses before her, inspiring crowds of visitors and especially young children.
