Cozumel is an island in the Caribbean, about ten kilometers off Mexico's coast, south of CancĂșn. It is about 650 square kilometers in area and has a population around 120,000. Its name comes from the Mayan "Ah Cuzamil Peten" which means island of swallows. The island is mostly undeveloped, and there is an eco park that is home to dolphins, manatees, and sea turtles. Montgomery came here for her first ever diving trip and was stunned by all the underwater flora and fauna.
