Mr. Proffit is Eddie's father. He owns and runs the Bear Creek Chevron station in town. Mr. Proffit is also a very intelligent man, but he never goes to college either. When he is alive, Mr. Proffit doesn't like Reverend Tarter and his beliefs. In fact, Mr. Proffit is constantly challenging Tarter. Mr. Proffit is the direct opposite of his wife, who is a very religious woman.
