Rachel is Lennon's archenemy. Rachel is the first chair in band for the clarinets, a position she won over Lennon and often lords it over her. Rachel is unaware that Lennon purposely blew the chair test because she prefers to remain in the shadows rather than to take on the solos herself. Rachel is an unpleasant person who often tries to make Lennon feel less than she really is. Therefore when Joe uses Rachel to make Lennon jealous, he chooses the perfect person. However, rather than hurt Lennon, this simply pushes her to come out of her shell and to become the clarinet phenom she was meant to be.
