I love the imagery in this novel. Mockingburg, New York is full od confined imagery and futility. The colours are drab giving the sense of Quoyle's numbed existence. By contrast, Killick-Claw, Newfoundland is wild and primal. The imagery is vivid and primal which sets the scene for Quoyle's re-awakening.
