In Sea of Monsters, Annabeth tells Percy that she dislikes cyclops so badly because a cyclops was the reason that she, Luke, and Thalia didn't make it back to the safety of the camp. Because a cyclops caused them to slow down, Thalia didn't make it to the camp's lines and was mortally wounded, prompting Zeus to turn her into a tree.
