In "Catarina," the Welcome Home store symbolizes illusion. The narrator says that the store is a haven for her, as she can pretend to entire the lives of others while wandering the aisles of housewares. However, the narrator is doing the same thing in her personal life. She has inserted herself into Rely and Catarina's relationship, hoping that she can imagine into a complete and fulfilling life made only of fractured parts.
