Who is Oda?

Oda is another character type, the Naïve Genius, symbolizing the dangerous distinction between theory and application. While Rebecca is skeptical of anyone interested in Oda’s research, Oda himself only wants to be building and inventing for the pure joy of discovery. Through Oda, the authors demonstrate how technology itself may not be dangerous, but its uses can be. Oda’s ODECs and ATTOs are merely objects, and wonders of human ingenuity. Only humans can render them sinister and violent.
