Grandmere is the dowager princess of Genovia and Mia's grandmother. She teaches Mia's princess lessons. At Mia's birthday dinner at Les Hautes Manger, Grandmere's poodle escapes from her purse and trips Jangbu, the busboy, who spills lobster bisque on Grandmere and is fired. Grandmere refuses to acknowledge the incident, even as it causes an increasingly widespread strike.
