Prince Rene is a distant relative of Mia's royal family. He attends a French college and smokes cigarettes. Mia thinks that Grandmere is trying to fix up Rene and Mia so they can marry later in life. Rene turns out to be an aid to Mia, helping her escape from the ball so that she can go be with Michael.
