The Metaphysician in Bachelard's work is an intellectual philosopher, who may be surprised by the daring of a poet who uses words for sensitivity rather than precision. Bachelard concludes by referring to words as little houses with their own sense of space. Each level in a house, like each word used, has its own meaning. For example, common sense lives on the ground floor and philosophers are often condemned by their equals to live on the ground floor only.
