What are the motifs in The Poem of the Cid: Dual Language Edition ?

Revenge is a recurring idea. Revenge and the means of getting revenge is also a subtopic of The Poem of the Cid. Two different means of getting one's revenge are described in the poem. First, one can get revenge in the way the Cid gets his revenge against King Alfonso. Instead of retaliating against the king who banishes him, the Cid goes about doing good deeds in King Alfonso's name. In this way the Cid not only regains the king's trust and respect, he also gains the respect of those around him.
