In Poe's Pit/Pendulum, it is a very dark scene in a torture cell during the inquisition. it is Dark toned as well as physically dark. This is in 1st person to show the fear and thouughts of the narrator. the lack of dialougue provieds a lonely tone and feeling as if one could be in the same situation as the narrator.
