What shock causes Mr. Pigman's collapse?

Mr. Pignati collapses and dies after hearing that his best friend, Bobo the Baboon, has died. Bobo's death, in addition to the emotional turmoil John and Lorraine brought to Mr. Pignati left him unable to deal with anymore.
