How does Waddington try and comfort Kitty about Walter's death?

After Walter's burial, Waddington tries to comfort Kitty by convincing her that Walter died a martyr to science and doing his duty. He relates to Kitty that Walter was doing experiments on cholera and even experimented on himself in the name of science.
