Why are Sade and Femi sent to England in the novel, The Other Side of Truth?

When Sade Solaja loses her mother in a tragic murder related to her father's outspoken journalism against the corruption and military power in the country of Nigeria, she and her younger brother, Femi, are forced to flee the country to go to England illegally. There they will begin a new life with a foster family while anxiously waiting for their father arrive in the country.
