They pass successfully through the British immigration but are stopped by the customs officers. The British customs officers tell Mrs. Bankole that she must open all of her bags. Sade believes that they are searching for concealed drugs.
When the customs officers examine the children’s bags, they take special interest in Sade’s hand-sewn traditional clothing and satin purse. Sade begs them not to cut the threads to see the inside of the garment but they do so anyway. After an hour, Mrs. Bankole and the children are finally allowed to leave after paying import duties. When they enter the arrivals terminal they do not find their Uncle Dele anywhere, the family member they are supposed to begin living with.
