Who is Jeanne McAdams from The Other Side of Dark and what is their importance?

Stacy's mother, Jeanne McAdams, is described as having beem a gentle, kind, forgiving woman. She was killed four years prior by Jarrod Tucker, who broke into the family home and was startled to find someone inside. Stacy misses her mother and seeks the killer for vengeance. When she holds Jarrod at gunpoint, however, she cannot bring herself to actually shoot him because Mom would never do so.
