What does the narrator’s father do in Chapter 7 after the narrator refuses to eat or apologize to Ursula?

The narrator runs upstairs and locks himself in the bathroom when his father orders him to eat and apologize. His father breaks down the bathroom door, fills the tub with cold water, and attempts to drown the narrator there.
