Friedrich Nietzsche is a German philosopher who wrote during the last half of the 20th century. Of all the philosophers which Camus analyzes, Nietzsche appears to be the one he admires and agrees with the most. Nietzsche recognized the absurdity of the world and, unlike many other philosophers, made no attempt to escape from it. Quotations from Nietzsche are used throughout the collection to illustrate Camus' points.
