Dr. Pellinore Xavier Warthrop (Monstrumologist) studies and hunts monsters. He hired James Henry and he is the man that took in Will Henry when Will's parents died. He is shown to be emotionally detached, though he is not cold. He is capable of showing concern, and mercy as evidenced in the way that he discovers that Varner has an illness that will leave him with an undignified death. Additionally Warthrop cares for Will. He is clearly a highly intelligent man and it is a calculated risk that he takes when he calls on Kearns.
