What was the reason for Kelly's panic attack at the funeral of GT's friend's father?

Kelly and George attended the funeral of GT's friend's father. He died of cancer. At the funeral, Kelly felt a panic attack coming on. She was able to maintain control but what had brought it on was that she was imagining that she was attending her own father's funeral.
