The jet that Basil sees flying over The Master's Castle symbolizes the future. Over the course of the evening, Basil has deliberated over whether or not to move himself and Otis to Florida with his parents. In this moment, the jet is a sign that Basil's instinct to move is correct, and that new and better times are to come.
