The Masque of the Red Death
Why do the Prince's guests avoid the seventh room in the story, The Masque of the Red Death?
.
.
The seventh room is decorated in black velvet and lit by the fire burning behind a redstained glass window. The effect of the red light, however, is "ghastly in the extreme," and as a result, the room is avoided by most of the guests.
