Is our government affected by the heroic ethic? Why or why not?

I believe our country is still affected by the heroic ethic. We have certain ideas about how people should be treated and how a nation should be led, and we have frequently attempted to force others to have the same beliefs. We also see ourselves as powerful nations who have a duty to take care of other, less powerful nations; unfortunately, this has occurred against the wills of these lesser nations and often due to our own hidden, selfish, agendas.
