Throughout Alexander's childhood, he was well educated in many areas suitable to a young royal. Alexander's education included learning to sing and play the lyre, hunt, ride, and to debate, and to appreciate epic poetry, mostly as it related to Homer. Like many royals, also had a tutor, who just happened to be a student of Plato, Aristotle. Alexander also attended a school erected for him by Philip at Mieza near Pella.
