What is the importance of dreams, as seen through the character of Minerva?

When the Recruiters attempt to take Minerva's dreams.... to extract the knowledge of her ancestors, she channels her dreams into language and song. In doing this, Minerva's dreams resist extraction, and the Recruiters’ procedure subsequently fails.
