The Marrow Thieves

On page 171 Frenchie says “we have been wrong about the marrow, but not about the theft.” What does this quote mean when Minerva was taken away by the group?

I think this has to do with white people unable to decode indigenous dreams. They could steal marrow but it wouldn't give them what they wanted.
