This trinity ring is a symbol of different things at different points in the novel. When Will first gives Iris this ring, it is a symbol of their love and their decision to start a family. After Will dies and Iris begins to learn the truth about him the ring is a symbol of the lies he told her, especially when she learns that Will is accused of embezzling $4.5 million from the company for which he worked. The ring is also a symbol of this stolen money because Iris suspects that her husband bought the ring with stolen money.
