What does Eduardo see when he visits Julisa's home in the story, Julisa?

Eduardo sees a dilapidated house that is apparently abandoned, at least until he sees the “burrows”. Eduardo then sees a dozen children crawling out of burrows on the hillside, who all stare at him.
