Who is Dr. Wilbur Kenworthy from The Loved One and what is their importance?

Dr. Wilbur Kenworthy is the founder of Whispering Glades. Sometimes called the Dreamer, especially by Mr. Joyboy, he is presented as a great thinker of almost mythical proportions, although he is still alive. Evelyn Waugh has great fun with the self-styled grandeur of Dr. Kenworthy, who never actually appears in the novel.
