The Lost Man
What is the setting in the novel, The Lost Man?
.
.
Burley Downs is where the majority of the novel takes place, and is where the family, other than Nathan, lives. Cameron ran the property when he was alive, and was known for doing so with great success. The house was not particularly filled with great memories. Carl, the father of the three boys, was abusive and their childhood was not a pleasant one. Burley Downs is also where Cameron and Carl are buried, and acts as a reminder to the family of the hardships they have overcome to get where they are today. However by the end of the novel, the cloud that reigned over Burley Downs seemed to have been lifted by the growth and happiness that came as a result of Cameron's death.
