What traumatic experiences did Leo go through in his childhood?

Leo has gone through some very upsetting and traumatic experiences, including the death of his mother. He carries around a great amount of guilt about this, as well as confusion over the strange things he saw in his childhood. He remembers Tia Callida testing his strength and the strange sleeping lady who brought about his mother's death.
