The continent of Pantala is the primary setting. It is shaped like a dragon, but in a different pose than the continent of Pyrrhia. This is what Moon and others from the previous novel called the lost continent. The land has nine hives in a circular pattern around the savanna, which is on the body of the dragon-shaped continent. The head of the dragon is known as the Poison Jungle. There are a few lakes on the map but Blue, Cricket, and Swordtail also discover a large crevasse that has an underground lake, and they find a human there reading a book. The final scene of the novel takes place near the ocean and that sets the stage for Luna to be swept across the ocean to Pyrrhia.
