The first time Mr. Biggins called on Herriot for help, Herriot saw that the farmer had waited too long and the cow would die no matter what he did for it. Biggins insisted on the cow being treated, but she died anyway. Mr. Biggins blamed Herriot for the death even though it was his own fault for waiting so long.
