Garrety's mother is tall and thin. She gives the indication of having been ill due to a dress that hangs on her and her face is described as an "invalid's" face. Yet we're told she's been wrapped up in old sorrows. She has messy auburn hair. She is obviously worried about her son and what he's about to do because she keeps saying "I don't like it."
