These themes exist throughout the entire short story. The stereotyping happens when he goes driving arounnd at night (because he had a fight with his girlfriend) and ends up in a very affluent neighborhood and as he's Indian he makes everyone think that he's a robber. It happens again, in reverse, when he goes into the 7-11 and purposely makes the cashier afraid of him.
