For Sirena, the death beach symbolizes fear. She notes that she avoids the living beach and only plays on the death beach because she cannot swim. However, she also keeps to this beach because it feels safe as the water is still and surrounded by rocks. The death beach is therefore a symbolic representation of Sirena's unresolved anxieties and trepidations.
