What is the setting in the story, The Little Match Girl?

The street corner is where the entire story takes place. The girl finds the corner early in the story, and she spends her time warming herself with matches. The matches cause her to hallucinate images of dinner scenes occurring in the houses around her. The time of year being New Year’s Eve enhances the girl’s loneliness, because a time that is usually associated with being with family, and she is unable to spend time with hers.
