Meaning of Tornadoes

Tornadoes are symbols of God’s vengeance. Ulysses believes that God is judging him when he is almost killed by a tornado. Later, Pastor John imagines himself to be a tornado whipped up against Ulysses and Billy as a vehicle for God’s vengeance.
