What is the setting in the novel, The Lifeboat?

The North Atlantic is the northern reach of the Atlantic Ocean. It is in the North Atlantic that the Empress Alexandra sinks, and launches eleven of its lifeboats before going under. The North Atlantic becomes the wilderness in which Grace and the other members of Lifeboat 14 seek to survive.
