What happened during the playground fight between Mary and Rickey Carter?

After watching his daughter get into many scuffles in school, Pete encouraged Mary to start defending herself on the playground. So when Rickey Carter started acting up, Mary sunk her teeth into his shoulder, drawing blood. Rickey Carter enlisted the help of his older brother and the pair pounded on Mary and Lecia. Rickey's brother arrived with a bat and beat Lecia until she was unconscious. Later, Mary attempted to take her revenge on the family by shooting Rickey with her BB gun, but was spotted by the family while she hid.
