When the Karr family was all struck with insomnia at the same time, they wandered around their house in various stages of undress -- from nude to underwear to full pajamas -- so they could lie down and sleep whenever they felt like a nap. Mary remembered seeing her mother standing naked at the stove making an omelette in the middle of the night and warned her that the neighbors could see her.
