Who is Father Drummond?

Father Drummond is the priest whom Kathleen asks to take care of Chrissie and her baby on her deathbed. A few weeks before Chrissie is to have the baby Father Drummond pays her and Jackie a visit to tell her that Kathleen had made arrangements for her to go to a convent to have the baby. He does not tell her that the arrangements with the convent will require her to give the baby up for adoption.

Later, when William visits Father Drummond to see if he remembers his mother, Father Drummond says that he does not. The priest is in his mid-90s so no one doubts he might have forgotten Chrissie and her baby. After William leaves Father Drummond’s house, however, Father Drummond wonders to himself if he did the right thing by lying about his memory of Chrissie.
