What does Color Television represent?

This color television is a symbol of Rick’s real priorities. He buys the television on the day that he and Tina are supposed to buy a pram for the baby. Instead, Rick gets angry when a man accidentally bumps up against Tina. He claims he wants to calm himself by getting a few drinks in a pub but instead gets drunk. He forgets about the pram and instead buys the television.
