Who is Professor Cookman?

Professor Cookman serves as external proof that Owen was the good person that Hannah believed him to be. Even though Professor Cookman confirms that Owen lied about much of his background, he does remember him positively, showing that the foundation of his character remains unchanged by the fact that his biographical details were lies.
