The Kissing Bug
What is the author's tone in the nonfiction book, The Kissing Bug?
.
.
Throughout The Kissing Bug, the author employs a range of tonal registers. The portions of the text devoted to rendering scenes from Hernández’s personal life affect a reflective, nostalgic, and more emotional tonality. Those portions of the text devoted to detailing her investigative research work affect a more unbiased, journalistic tone. In other passages still, Hernández will employ a more interrogative tone when considering her family’s story in relation to the stories of other families, and thus the social and political implications of these narrative accounts.
